Information we collect

  • Customers: name, email, mobile, suburb, saved cuisines, favourite dishes, booking address information, booking history, and profile photo if uploaded.
  • Cooks: name, email, mobile, suburb, service suburbs, cuisine specialties, payout details, verification status, and profile photo.
  • Verification: cooks provide a government-issued photo ID, which may be from Australia or another country, for onboarding review.

How we use information

  • Create and manage customer and cook accounts.
  • Match bookings by suburb and cuisine.
  • Send booking confirmations, verification codes, reminders, and support communications.
  • Process payments, payouts, discounts, and refunds.
  • Review cook verification materials and protect the platform against fraud or misuse.

Retention and deletion

  • Cook photo ID documents are retained only for the verification process and deleted after verification is completed.
  • We may retain booking, invoice, support, payout, and audit records for legal, tax, safety, fraud-prevention, and dispute-management purposes.
  • Users may request access, correction, or deletion of their information, subject to lawful retention obligations.

Sharing and safeguards

  • We use service providers such as Microsoft Azure, Stripe, Microsoft Graph, and Google Maps / Places to operate HandyCook.
  • Data is protected with access controls and encryption in transit and at rest where supported by our providers.
  • HandyCook does not sell personal information.
  • Where data is processed outside Australia, HandyCook relies on provider safeguards and contractual protections.

Your rights

  • You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information.
  • Australian users may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if they are dissatisfied with our response.
